About The Project
This project analyzes 2026 campaign contributions by individuals to major party candidates, both women and men, at the congressional level. We are following the money race throughout the 2026 cycle to understand the status of women’s fundraising efforts as they compete for congressional office.
Analyses are conducted by candidate gender, party, chamber, and seat status, as well as women’s race/ethnicity. We will also analyze the demographics of donors to congressional candidates with explorations of how candidate gender, party, and women’s race/ethnicity are related to donor gender, race/ethnicity, educational attainment, marital status, and age. The interactive data visualizations, powered by Graphicacy, allow users to examine how gender, fundraising, and donating are connected.
This project is part of the CAWP Women, Money, and Politics series, led by CAWP Senior Scholar Kira Sanbonmatsu.
